Finding My Voice in Public
Finding My Voice in Public
Unscripted Talks, Real Presence
For most of my life, public speaking lived in the category of “things I survived once.” The last time I had to formally perform before stepping into this spiritual space was a college speech class—years ago. After that, my voice lived in conversations, in quiet spaces, in lived moments… not on stages.
That changed this past year, or so.
Through the open doors of the Spiritualist Church of Awareness, I was given a space to speak without needing to be polished, perfected, or scripted. Just present. Just real. And that single invitation unlocked something I didn’t know I had been quietly holding back for a long time.
None of these talks were scripted.
They came through lived experience, inner work, grief, humor, healing, and remembering.
What you’re hearing is not polish — it’s process.
My First Public Talk
This was my very first time stepping into this arena. Nervous, open, unscripted, and honest. I didn’t know what I was doing yet—but I knew why I was there.

This one will always matter deeply to me. It marks the moment I stopped hiding my voice.
Talks as They’ve Unfolded
Each time I returned, something shifted. A little more ease. A little more trust. A little less self-consciousness. Still unscripted. Still imperfect. Still real.

The Freeze That Didn’t Show
In my most recent talk, something surprising happened. I froze for a moment. Not outwardly—but inwardly. A quiet, sudden pause where my system reset itself mid-sentence.
What’s wild is… the camera never caught it.
What felt like vulnerability in my body came across as intentional stillness on screen.
And maybe that’s the lesson.
Sometimes what feels like hesitation inside is actually presence on the outside — a nervous system choosing truth over performance.

Why I’m Sharing These
These talks aren’t about perfection. They’re about permission.
Permission to:
Speak without a script
Pause without apologizing
Share before being “ready”
Tell the truth while still becoming it
If my voice is trembling in the early ones… it’s because it was being born.
Deep Gratitude
I want to give genuine thanks to the Spiritualist Church of Awareness, (https://myscoa.com) for creating a space where people can explore, speak, and grow without being molded into a single voice. What you’ve offered me isn’t just a platform—it’s been a threshold.
Thank you for the room to stumble, soften, and strengthen. Spaces like this matter. They give people permission to find their voice before they believe they have one.
If any of these talks resonate with you, or if you feel your own voice is waiting to emerge, you’re not alone in that process. None of us arrive fully formed. We arrive through practice. Through nervous breaths. Through moments of pause that look like confidence in hindsight.
